Dianna Russini Breaks Her Silence After Announcing Her Resignation From ‘The Athletic’

Dianna Russini has released her resignation letter to The Athletic.

On Tuesday afternoon, news broke that Dianna Russini resigned from The Athletic amid the Mike Vrabel photos controversy. Russini joined The Athletic in 2023 after an eight-year stint at ESPN.

Soon after the news broke, Russini posted her resignation letter to her now-former employer. The 43-year-old NFL insider sent the letter to Steven Ginsberg, the executive editor at The Athletic.

In the statement, Dianna Russini noted that her contract was set to expire on June 30. She thanked Ginsberg for his support during the Vrabel controversy and wished him success in the future:

Her resignation comes seven days after the photos leaked of Russini and Vrabel together at an adults-only hotel in Arizona. The images, taken on March 28, show the pair holding hands, hugging and relaxing at a swimming pool.

As Vrabel and Russini are both married, fans quickly wondered whether there was an affair between the two. Vrabel and Russini have been married to their spouses since 1999 and 2020, respectively.

The two-time NFL Coach of the Year claimed that it was an “innocent interaction.” In her statement, Russini said, “The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day.”

Over the past week, fans have also dug up old clips of Russini insulting her husband. This included one instance in 2021, where she called him “average” and blamed Aaron Rodgers for a potential divorce.

Fair or not, Vrabel obviously isn’t going anywhere as head coach of the Patriots. With Russini, however, it’s anybody’s guess where she goes from here.
