There was no more of Michael Irvin taking off his belt.

It just wasn’t meant to be for Michael Irvin and the Miami Hurricanes. Fernando Mendoza bulldozed his way into the end zone, and Indiana bullied their way into the history books on Monday.

They toppled Miami 27-21 to put the finishing touch on their dream season. Not even a bloody lip or an injured arm from Mendoza could stop history from happening. The Heisman Trophy winner finished with 186 yards passing and that jumping touchdown in the fourth quarter.

On the other side, it was complete heartbreak. Miami QB Carson Beck didn’t even stay around to shake hands as he walked off the field. The loss even left adult star Abella Danger in tears.

There was also the state of Michael Irvin. We’ve seen Irvin going wild on the Miami sidelines, from yelling to spanking a Gatorade cooler. After Monday night’s game, he was left in shock.

One picture showed him on the sidelines in disbelief as confetti fell to the ground.

Mark Fletcher had a great game for Miami in the National Championship. Unfortunately, he took a swing at an Indiana player after the game. Mark Fletcher Jr. set the College Football Playoff career rushing record when he finished with 517 yards in the four Miami games.

Fletcher Jr. was the undeniable Most Valuable Player for Miami in the CFP run. Miami will be losing Carson Beck to the NFL. However, Fletcher is not going anywhere. He announced he is returning for his senior season. That is great news for the program and for Michael Irvin.

The RB ran 17 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns as Miami lost 27-21 to Indiana. He finished the 2025 season with 226 carries for 1,202 yards and 12 touchdowns. The 1,202 rushing yards are the sixth most for a single season in Miami history.

Miami will have to find another QB, but at least the running game will stay intact. They will also return backup RBs CharMar Brown and Girard Pringle Jr. in 2026.
