Sherrone Moore’s nightmare keeps getting worse. CBS Sports dropped its annual report card for second-year Power Four coaches this week, and Moore earned the only failing grade in the entire group. The evaluation came as his legal case dragged into another month, and former players started airing allegations that paint an even uglier picture of his brief tenure at Michigan.

CBS handed Moore an ‘F’ alongside a brutal explanation. “Moore was fired for cause in December after an off-field indiscretion,” the report stated. “He was later arrested and faced multiple charges.” The outlet also noted his two-game suspension in 2025 connected to the sign-stealing investigation.

No other coach in the Power Four received anything close to that assessment. Even UCLA’s DeShaun Foster, also fired, got the same failing mark but without the criminal charges hanging over him.

Moore returned to court last week for the first time since December, according to the Detroit Free Press. His defense attorney Ellen Michaels filed motions seeking to dismiss charges of felony home invasion, stalking and illegal entry. Moore walked into the Washtenaw County courthouse with his wife, Kelli, and their three kids, less than four miles from Michigan Stadium, where he coached two seasons ago.

The probable cause hearing got pushed to March 19 as both sides collect evidence. Moore still wears a tracking device and remains on bond. But the court delay means this story stays in the headlines for at least two more months.
