Denver Broncos legend Peyton Manning couldn’t quite believe his eyes when he saw the news about Bo Nix’s injury on Saturday night.

He thought it was all fake.

Manning is one of the most recognizable characters in Broncos folklore and is likely hoping to see his former team reach the Super Bowl. However, it’s not going to be as easy, given what we learned after they punched their ticket to the conference championship.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton delivered a shocker in his postgame press conference after beating the Buffalo Bills, revealing that Nix sustained a fractured ankle.

Manning apparently didn’t catch the presser and saw the injury update online. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he sent a text to a team official asking whether it was a hoax.

“When Sean Payton uttered these words, it really sent shockwaves through the NFL and people close to the Denver Broncos,” Rapoport said on Sunday, “so much so that Peyton Manning texted a team official ‘Is this a hoax?’”

“He saw it online, saw nothing after the game, could not believe it was real.”
