The New England Patriots have reportedly made an offer for wide receiver AJ Brown, which has been turned down.

Brown’s desire to leave Philadelphia has been the NFL’s worst-kept secret, although the team insists it wants to keep him.

“It’s really hard to find great players,” Eagles GM Roseman said last week, per The Athletic. “I think A.J. is a great player. I think from my perspective, we’re looking to improve in all areas, and you don’t do that by subtracting.”

“My expectation is he wants to be here,” head coach Nick Sirianni added. “You guys know me. I’m not gonna say, ‘Hey, here’s what I thought this player should have done.’ Like, just know I’m always communicating with our guys, whether it’s something on or off the field that’s going on.”

Dianna Russini, an insider with the aforementioned publication, reported on Friday morning that the Pats “have poked around” but the Eagles are “holding firm on their steep asking price.”

FOX’s Anthony Gargano is also claiming that the AFC Champions offered a first-round pick and a third-round pick in exchange for Brown.

“I hear it’s a one and a three, and Howie said no,” Gargano shared.

He wasn’t sure whether the first-rounder was for this year or next year.

The Eagles’ asking price for Brown leaked a few days ago. It was revealed that the team would not move the player for anything less than a first-round pick, and even that was not enough to guarantee a deal.

If what Gargano reported is true, a third-round pick does not sweeten the pot for Philly.

Other reports suggest there is some frustration among other NFL teams over the Eagles’ required haul.

It’s probably going to take a one and a two to get them to budge.
