Colin Dorgan Scores OT Winner After His Transgender Father Murdered His Family In The Stands During Game – Sends Team To State Championship [VIDEO]
Colin Dorgan did it for his deceased family members.
Last month, Robert Dorgan’s shooting rampage took the lives of four people, including himself. Dorgan was a 56-year-old transgender woman who carried out a targeted shooting at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. It came during a youth hockey game.
Dorgan shot and killed his ex-wife, Rhonda Dorgan, their 23-year-old son, Aidan Dorgan, and his grandfather, Gerald Dorgan. He also critically wounded two other people—Aidan’s grandmother and a family friend—before he was tackled. Dorgan eventually killed himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Colin Dorgan was on the ice with his teammates when his father carried out that attack. His entire life had changed in an instant. The senior defenseman has been wearing a patch on his uniform with the initials of his mother, brother, and grandfather ever since.
He wanted to make sure that Robert Dorgan would not take anything else from him.
Robert Dorgan’s Son Scores The Game-Winning Goal Following Family Tragedy

Almost a month after experiencing that unspeakable tragedy, the Rhode Island high school hockey player scored a game-winning goal in double overtime. It happened during a semifinal matchup to help his team advance to the state championship next week.
The Blackstone Valley School’s star captain called it “the greatest moment of my life,” according to WPRI. “My good buddy fed me the puck, and I could hear the crowd. It was a surreal moment,” Dorgan told the outlet after the game.

It was also bittersweet, since his mother, brother, and grandfather weren’t in the stands to see it.
“We have tears in our eyes and goosebumps right now,” one of the NFHS Network announcers said. “Nothing will ever change what happened to that young man, but there’s a moment for him that he’ll never forget.”
The crowd at Providence College’s Schneider Arena erupted with cheers as Dorgan celebrated on the ice with his teammates. Blackstone Valley will next play in the championship game at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence on Wednesday, March 18, at 4 p.m.
