ESPN commentator Teddy Atlas has announced his departure from the network.

The 69-year-old made his final appearance for ESPN at UFC 322 on Saturday night.

After the main event at Madison Square Garden, he revealed on social media that it was his “last show” on the channel.

Atlas wrote, “After 30 yrs doing Friday Night Fights & some UFC seems this was my last show with ESPN.

“I’m happy my family was here. Been a good ride.”

Fans were quick to congratulate the commentator and wish him well, with one person writing, “I learned so much listening to your analysis. No one had greater passion for boxing. Best of luck on your next adventure. You’re the best Teddy.”

Another said, “Best of luck Teddy, you’ve been great!!”

A third wrote, “Nobody better than Teddy. You’ll be much missed.”

While a fourth commented, “Best in the business! Thanks Teddy!!”

Awful Announcing has reported that Atlas’ contract runs out at the end of the year and he is not scheduled to make any other appearances.

His exit comes amid the reduced presence of boxing on ESPN as a result of the deal with Top Rank expiring.

In addition, the UFC has left the network for Paramount+ in a $7.7billion deal.

ESPN had previously been the home of Friday Night Fights for 17 years – from 1998 to 2015.

Atlas also joined the company in 1998, serving as the primary boxing analyst for 27 years.

He exits having called some of the biggest fights over the last three decades.
