Jemele Hill Makes Controversial Claim About Falcons Fans and New Head Coach Kevin Stefanski

Jemele Hill issued a warning to Kevin Stefanski as he takes over as Atlanta Falcons head coach.

Former ESPN analyst Jemele Hill isn’t a stranger to controversy. She has become a polarizing figure not only in sports but also in politics, where her strong opinions often put her at the center of the storm.

Hill has continued to speak her mind regardless of the topic. She called out Rex Ryan after the former New York Jets coach agreed with Lane Kiffin’s decision to leave Ole Miss for LSU after the 2025 college football regular season.

She was on the receiving end of criticism earlier this month, when fans realized she changed her mind on a controversial Jacksonville Jaguars reporter trying to lift Liam Coen’s spirits following his team’s elimination by the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round. Fans called out Hill for making a U-turn after finding out the reporter was black.

On Friday, she caused another stir with her take. This time, it involved Shedeur Sanders, Deion Sanders, and Kevin Stefanski.

On Friday, Jemele Hill wrote that the Falcons fans she knew were happy with Kevin Stefanski’s arrival, mentioning that the way he handled Shedeur Sanders in Cleveland played a big role in that.

“Harry Douglas was absolutely right. None of the Falcons fans I know like the Stefanski hire,” Hill tweeted. “He had a losing record in Cleveland and they didn’t like how he handled the Shedeur Sanders situation. They LOVE Deion in the ATL. It’s a Black city, with one of the Blackest fan bases in the NFL, and they have a Black QB on their roster — so a lot of ATL fans are side-eyeing this hire. Stefanski isn’t going to get a honeymoon there.”

Stefanki’s hiring has drawn plenty of criticism, with some saying he would have a good first season before things start falling apart and the offense looks stagnant. However, many of those critics point out Stefanski’s coaching ability rather than his race or how he treated Sanders in Cleveland.

Sanders called it “cool” when asked about his experience with Stefanski.
