Fernando Mendoza Reveals Real Reason Why He Doesn’t Have a Girlfriend That Every NFL Team Needs To Hear Before The Draft [VIDEO]

Fernando Mendoza always had his eyes on the prize.

Indiana Hoosiers superstar quarterback Fernando Mendoza is getting set for the next phase in his life.

The Heisman Trophy winner put a bow on his final college game during the big stage in the win against Miami. Mendoza’s incredible touchdown run in the fourth quarter provided the game-winning points for his squad. On a fourth down play, he ran the ball, took several hits, and jumped for the end zone. It couldn’t have ended any sweeter.

Unlike other players, Mendoza had no girlfriend there to celebrate with. Miami WR Keelan Marion’s girlfriend certainly stole the show while in the stands. But for Mendoza, he had no such girl by his side. That’s done by design.

Mendoza’s rise from promising college quarterback to national champion and top NFL Draft prospect has put every aspect of his life under the microscope. This also includes comments he once made about relationships. Now, just days after leading Indiana to its first-ever NCAA title, an old interview with Fernando Mendoza has resurfaced.

It reveals how deliberately the Hoosiers star has structured his life around football. In that interview, Mendoza was asked why he was single.

“I know myself. And I would say that in such a short period of time, if I have a really good next two years, I can make it to the NFL, and I believe that I will make it to the NFL,” Mendoza said.

“However, at this point, I’ve got to limit all the distractions…. Especially with the girls, it can be very distracting now…. If I have a girlfriend, I’d give her my all. That means, from 6 to 9 PM, [I’d] go hang out with her, maybe get dinner or something. Rather than picking up dinner on the way back from class and watching an extra film for the game week,” he continued.

Fernando Mendoza was already the overwhelming favorite to be the first prospect off the board. His comments about women may have made them even more attractive. He limits outside distractions to focus solely on football. His performance this year even got Tom Brady inside Hard Rock Stadium to see the QB.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner, who led the FBS with 41 passing touchdowns, is most certainly going number 1.
