The Kyler Murray era seemed to be over after the 2025 season concluded. His season had already come to an end due to a lingering foot injury. That injury had kept him out of action since October 5. The former No. 1 pick played in only the Cardinals’ first five games before suffering a foot injury against the Tennessee Titans.

He was eventually placed on injured reserve and was later ruled out for the season. Many expected Murray to get cut or traded as trade proposals had the once-dynamic QB headed to several other teams.

Earlier this month, the 2026 NFL Draft took a major hit. Oregon Ducks’ Dante Moore chose to return to school. Moore decided on his future in the game following the Ducks’ playoff exit at the hands of Indiana, returning to school for one more season. He was easily one of the most-talked-about names in the NFL Draft after a resurgence season with Oregon.

The Cardinals have several questions looming this offseason, including Murray’s future with the team. He is under contract with the Cardinals for two more seasons with an option for 2028. Murray also has a $36.8 million guarantee in 2026.

That is just one of many reasons why the Cardinals want him off the roster. Things have changed now. ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss reported that since Dante Moore was thought to be the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, teams will be desperate for a quarterback.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. said there isn’t another clear-cut first-round quarterback in this upcoming draft. Because of this, Kyler Murray’s trade value has increased.

“An NFC source believes the starting price for Murray, if Arizona is interested in trading him, could start with a second-round pick,” Weinfuss wrote. “That source believes if the Cardinals can trade Murray, they will.”

A second-round pick for an often-injured Kyler Murray would be incredible for the Cardinals.

“That source compared Murray’s situation with Geno Smith’s when he was traded from Seattle to Las Vegas last March for a third-round pick,” Weinfuss wrote. “The source pointed out that Smith was more consistent during his last season with Seattle than Murray was in his five games with Arizona this season; however, the source added that Murray is a more talented player.”

Kyler Murray was excelling well in Kliff Kingsbury’s system before suffering an ACL tear in 2022. Taking him on means taking on his injury history. Murray has missed 30 games due to injury.

All he needs is to find one team that believes in him.
