Wild Brawl Erupts in South Alabama–Coastal Carolina Women’s Game as Referee Gets Knocked Out in Chaotic Scene
Tension flared in the South Alabama vs. Coastal Carolina women’s game as a fierce on-court heated moment broke out, leaving a referee knocked down.
The South Alabama Jaguars and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers game brought heated tension in the final moment. A large on-court brawl broke out late in the game, taking attention away from South Alabama’s 80-70 win.

The fight began under the basket when Cordasia Harris and Tracey Hueston clashed. Other players quickly joined in, with punches and shoves spreading across the court. During the chaos, a referee was knocked to the floor while trying to regain control.
Both Harris and Hueston were issued technical fouls and ejected from the game. Several additional South Alabama players were also ejected after leaving the bench and making contact with opposite players, including Daniela Gonzalez and Amyah Sutton, two key contributors for the Jaguars.
The Sun Belt later announced suspensions for Cordasia Harri, Daniela Gonzalez, and Amyah Sutto for the next game against the Texas State Bobcats. The incident left the Jaguars without their top three scorers in a crucial matchup.
South Alabama Responds To The Heated Brawl

After the heated moment during Wednesday’s Women’s Sun Belt Championship game in Pensacola, the University of South Alabama suspended players. Athletics Director Dr. Joel Erdmann opened up on the matter, saying the university does not condone fighting.
“The University of South Alabama does not condone fighting under any circumstance,” the statement said. “The incident that took place during Wednesday’s game is extremely unfortunate and unacceptable. We will use this as an opportunity to learn and grow in our efforts to become better in the future. This judgment has negatively impacted the tournament experience of our suspended student-athletes and stripped them of limited opportunities to compete in the postseason.”
