NFL Bombshell Rumor: 3 Teams Primed for Massive 2026 Blockbuster Trade to Snatch Steelers’ Mike Tomlin

Earlier this year, reports claimed an NFC team even tried to trade for him.

Despite winning 189 regular-season games, making the playoffs 12 times, and never producing a losing season, it has been a decade since the Steelers last won a playoff game. Now, he could be on his way out.

According to a report from NFL insider Josina Anderson, a “longtime” NFL head coach is interested in a change of scenery for 2026 and beyond.

“There’s is a longtime NFL head coach out there who is considering wanting a change of scenery and has told others of these thoughts. If he acts on those lingering feelings, his departure would clearly add to the list of vacancies,” she reported on X on Tuesday afternoon.

The New York Giants fired Brian Daboll after another disappointing season, and they are now in need of a new voice to potentially lead them to the promised land, as the team has never looked more attractive than it does now.

Longtime NFL writer Ian O’Connor already suggested the possibility. O’Connor believes the Giants view him as the “perfect fit.”

“The Giants absolutely cannot afford to miss on this hire,” O’Connor wrote. “Their walk-off home run hire is the 53-year-old Tomlin.”

Mike Tomlin has been at the helm for two decades, but calls for change have grown in Pittsburgh as the team tries to salvage its 2025 campaign.

Andrew Holleran of The Spun also suggests two other teams that can trade for Mike Tomlin.

The first team that could use his services is the Arizona Cardinals. Five straight winning seasons from Tomlin is likely to earn him a statue outside the stadium. The team hasn’t had back-to-back seasons above .500 since the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Next up on the list to possibly trade for Tomlin is the Miami Dolphins. Mike McDaniel started his coaching career on a hot streak, but he has since cooled off, and it seems evident that he will be fired after the season.

The Dolphins haven’t won a playoff game since 2000 and have only made the postseason five times since that time. Again, Tomlin could change the culture.

It’s improbable the Steelers would trade Tomlin, but then again, anything is possible nowadays in the NFL.
