Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton dramatically walked out of a closed-door congressional hearing after a heated exchange with lawmakers over questions related to Jeffrey Epstein.

The tense moment unfolded as the 78-year-old was being questioned by members of Congress during what was intended to be a confidential session. Clinton had been responding to inquiries when the atmosphere in the room suddenly escalated following claims that a photograph taken during the hearing had been leaked.

According to accounts from inside the meeting, one of Clinton’s lawyers raised concerns that a photo of the former presidential candidate had been circulated publicly by Republican Representative Lauren Boebert.

The lawyer questioned how such an image could have been shared when the hearing was supposed to take place under strict closed-door rules. Clinton’s legal team had reportedly requested that the session be made public from the outset, but lawmakers declined the request.

As the discussion intensified, Clinton appeared increasingly frustrated.

“I’m done with this… If you guys are doing that, I’m done,” she told the room, according to witnesses.

Moments later, Clinton stood up and left the hearing room, telling lawmakers she would no longer participate under those conditions.

“You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home. This is just typical behaviour,” she said before walking out.

At one point during the exchange, Clinton was also seen striking the table with her hand while addressing the issue of the leaked image.

“It doesn’t matter. We are all abiding by the same rules,” she said.

Admission over leaked photo

Representative Boebert later acknowledged that she had shared a photo taken during the session, further fueling tensions surrounding the incident.

The leak quickly became a focal point of the dispute, with Clinton’s team arguing that it undermined the confidentiality of the hearing and violated the rules agreed upon by those present.

Fallout from the dramatic moment

The abrupt walkout has already sparked widespread debate online and in political circles, with supporters defending Clinton’s reaction while critics argue that leaving the hearing raised further questions.

The hearing itself was part of ongoing congressional scrutiny into individuals who may have had connections to Epstein, the financier whose network and activities have been the subject of multiple investigations in recent years.

It remains unclear whether lawmakers will attempt to recall Clinton for further questioning or how the committee will proceed following the dramatic confrontation.
