Michigan Wolverines HC Sherrone Moore Is Getting Called Out For His Spineless Decision vs. Ohio State

Furious Michigan Wolverines fans want head coach Sherrone Moore fired amid a humiliating performance against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan Stadium.

Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines came into Saturday’s clash as the nation’s 15th-ranked team, needing a win and some outside help to potentially qualify for the 12-team College Football Playoff.

But the Wolverines have put up a lackluster outing against their archrivals amid terrible weather conditions. Not only has Michigan’s defense struggled to contain the Buckeyes’ high-powered offense, but Moore’s play-calling on offense has also left much to be desired.

The tipping point came during the final minutes of the second half, when Moore allowed the Buckeyes to eat the clock before scoring a touchdown to go up, 17-9. Then, when Michigan got the ball back with 16 seconds remaining in the half, they kneeled it out and went into the locker room having attempted just five passes through the first 30 minutes.

At that point, Michigan fans had seen enough. They took to social media and ripped Moore’s play-calling, with some even calling for him to get fired.

“At least Sherrone Moore gets an up close look at what a creative passing game looks like today. Doubt he will do anything with that information tho,” a fan said.

“Bryce Underwood changing the play after Sherrone Moore calls a pass,” another quipped.

“Michigan really paid Bryce Underwood $10+ million in NIL just to put up these statistics. Even Alex Orji could’ve done this. Is this on Bryce or Sherrone Moore?” asked a fan.

“Its not too late to fire this clown Sherrone Moore and hire a coach that can develop talent,” a user commented.

“I’ve seen 12 year olds on CFB 26 run a better offense than Sherrone Moore,” wrote another.

“Fire Sherrone Moore before all the good coaches are snapped up. We’ve seen his ceiling. It’s not high enough,” a fan commented.

The LSU Tigers fired head coach Brian Kelly last month and recently agreed to pay out the remaining $54 million on his deal, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Will Moore be the next high-profile coach to receive his walking papers?

Let’s just say Saturday’s game wasn’t a good look for the program.

After leading the Wolverines to a national championship in 2023, Jim Harbaugh left to become the head coach of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers. Moore, who won his lone game as the interim HC in 2023 (Harbaugh was suspended for the sign-stealing scandal), was named the successor.

But Michigan went 8-5 last season and failed to qualify for the 12-team postseason. His Wolverines looked a lot better this year with a 9-2 record heading into “The Game”, but a blowout loss to the Buckeyes means they’l miss the playoffs yet again.
