The Wolverines drew first blood on the day, going ahead 6-0 with two field goals before the Buckeyes began turning it up with their first meaningful drive.

Barham was not pleased after a particular play near the goal line and got into a heated discussion with one of the referees, who he appeared to headbutt softly.

“Almost headbutted the ref 😳,” broadcasters FOX noted as they shared the footage on X.

Fans didn’t buy the “almost” part…

“Almost” the refs face is smushed in,” one wrote.

The linebacker was issued an unsportsmanlike conduct call but was not ejected.

Any player making such contact with an official should be ejected. Still, the ref decided that getting a helmet pressed up against his nose did not warrant a sending off, leaving color commentator Joel Klatt perturbed.

The 11-0 Ohio State has since gone ahead 10-6 as they remain keen on defending their national title in a game that would mark a significant win on their calendar.
