Eagles sign WR Marquise Brown to one-year deal worth up to $6.5 million

Philadelphia is adding some Hollywood-style wide receiver depth.

The Eagles have signed wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a one-year contract worth up to $6.5 million, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday, per sources informed of the deal.

A 2019 first-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens, Brown has seen his production wane since netting a career-high 1,008 yards in 2021. After an injury-plagued two-year stint in Arizona, Brown spent the past two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played in just five games, including playoffs, in 2024 due to a preseason injury. Last year, the wideout participated in 16 games, earning 587 yards and five touchdowns on 49 catches.

The first question upon the signing is likely: What does this mean regarding the A.J. Brown trade chatter?

The easy answer: Nada.

Adding Hollywood shouldn’t change Howie Roseman’s calculus. If he’s going to trade A.J., he’s going to trade him, regardless. The trade price matters more than who currently sits on the roster.

If Philly keeps A.J., it still needs wide receiver depth. Hollywood fits nicely as a No. 3 with field-stretching ability. If Roseman deals his top target, the Eagles still need a legit No. 2 option behind DeVonta Smith.

Given that the “up to” phrase in Hollywood’s reported $6.5 million deal seems to be doing a lot of work, we can surmise that the newly signed wideout isn’t causing much of a salary cap crunch that the Eagles would need to worry about at this point.

The Eagles need depth at receiver. Hollywood Brown fits the bill from a veteran perspective. His presence doesn’t change any trade talks or hinder Philly from adding a playmaking receiver in the draft.
