Bears’ Shocking New Stadium Spot in Hammond, Indiana: “What Do You Notice?” [VIDEO]

Impossible to imagine the Bears building a new stadium here.

A video has surfaced of the Chicago Bears’ potential new stadium location in the event that they relocate to Indiana.

On Thursday, the Indiana House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee passed a bill that would allow the Chicago Bears to build a new stadium in Hammond, Indiana. The city of Hammond is about 28 miles from Chicago, and about a 35-minute drive.

The Bears have been pushing for approval to build a new indoor stadium in Arlington Heights, a Chicago suburb. Their lease at the legendary Soldier Field expires after the 2033 season.

A video of the Bears’ potential new stadium location in Hammond has gone viral. And fans had a lot to say:

One user pointed out the potential environmental-related issues if the Chicago Bears relocate here to Hammond:

“Such a weird move…. Representing a city that isn’t even in the same state,” a fan wrote.

“the grass is all dead and the it looks grey?” a user noted.

“They are about to be landlords of a lot more than just the stadium,” another commented.

Bears fans in Illinois do not need to worry just yet. Nothing is close to being finalized. The state of Indiana would welcome the Bears if they want to move there, but there’s still time to complete a deal to stay in Chicago.

In an open letter published on Dec. 17, Bears CEO and president Kevin Warren warned Bears fans that they would explore potential stadium opportunities in Indiana. Warren cited the club’s tireless work in securing a deal in Cook County.

No city ever wants to lose its team to relocation. But for long-suffering Bears fans, this would especially be a bad time. Why? Because their team is just entering what could be a long-term championship window.

Caleb Williams had a phenomenal first season under Ben Johnson’s tutelage. The Bears were a couple of plays away from reaching the NFC Championship Game. And now, the Bears’ faithful might have to deal with the possibility of seeing their team move to another state.
