WNBA Fans Erupt As Growing Calls Emerge To Punish Kelsey Plum After Controversial Incident That Has Social Media Completely Divided And Talking Nonstop
There are growing calls for the WNBA to punish Los Angeles Sparks star guard Kelsey Plum on Sunday night.
Plum, who is in her first year with the Los Angeles Sparks, is getting ripped on social media for what she did late in a loss to the Golden State Valkyries. The former University of Washington star appeared to intentionally trip an opponent, later flopping for a hopeful foul call.
WNBA fans are admitting that it’s getting tougher and tougher to defend her.
“Stuff like this is why it’s hard for me to defend Kelsey Plum sometimes. She has these random moments where you’re just like—what was she thinking? She was playing terribly, and honestly, it felt like she was trying to get herself ejected,” one fan noted.

Some are comparing Plum’s trip attempt to those done by NBA guard Grayson Allen when he was at Duke. Intentional or not, it’s a very dangerous move. And it’s something that the WNBA needs to take a look at.
“Kelsey Plum should have been ejected from tonights and face suspension. BUT, she won’t. The league is trash,” one fan wrote.
“This really should be a suspension. We can’t have players purposely endangering others out of frustration,” one fan added.
“It’s a bad look,” one fan added.
Plum was ultimately given a Flagrant 1 foul call for the play. However, she could face further suspension for her play.
