Behind the spotlight and the bright smile on the small screen, Sheinelle Jones is going through one of the most difficult times of her life.Is Sheinelle Jones returning to ‘The Today Show’?
Sheinelle Jones‘ continued absence from The Today Show amid her husband’s Uche Ojeh recent death has left viewers wondering if the anchor will be returning to the morning talk show.
Jones has not appeared on The Today Show since January when she initially announced that she was stepping away to focus on a “family health matter.” Her husband of 17 years later passed away in May from glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was 45.
His passing was announced on The Today Show where Jones’ colleagues honored her and her husband with a touching tribute. She shared the moment on social media, marking the last post she’s shared amid her continued absence from the show. “Thank you, for all of your love and support,” she wrote.
Jones, who has been with NBC since 2014, has remained largely radio silent on social media amid her ongoing absence from the show, leaving fans to wonder if they will ever see her back on The Today Show.
For now, here is everything we know about whether or not Jones will be returning to The Today Show.
When is Sheinelle Jones returning to The Today Show?
Jones has not given any indication about when she should be expected back on The Today Show. But fans will likely see her reunite with her NBC colleagues at some point.
When she announced that she would be taking time away from the show to focus on her family, Jones said she expected to be back on the show “soon.”
“It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you,” she wrote in a statement shared on social media at the time. “Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon.”
For now, it appears that Jones will be taking some more time to be with her three children as The U.S. Sun recently reported that her upcoming book Through Mom’s Eyes had been delayed for a second time from Oct. 2025 to Feb. 2026.
Dylan Dreyer, who co-hosts the third hour with Jones and Craig Melvin, shared an update on Jones in July.
