But Sam, 63, wanted to let the viewers and his fans know exactly why his face has changed.
He issued a warning for viewers to use sun protection after he revealed that he was previously diagnosed with skin cancer.
The star was welcomed back into the Good Morning America studio with the likes of Michael Strahan, 52.
“We started talking a little about it and so many people were interested in it.

“[So] we thought we’d continue the conversation. There have been so many advancements in sun protection, sunscreen, laser treatments for pre-cancerous areas.
“So I hope one day nobody has to go through surgery to get rid of skin cancer.
“But now we have to keep an eye on our skin, our hands on our skin, be very vigilant, and notice any unusual spots.”
He added, “And if those spots change, then get immediate care.”
It has been only two weeks since Sam underwent surgery in the office of his dermatologist.
But now the meteorologist is back on air, although viewers may notice a small scar under his left eye.

The show cut to a pre-recorded segment where the star explained more about his journey.
“Recently I had to step away from the studio to treat some skin cancer.
“It’s not my first bout with the life-threatening disease, but this time I got a biopsy on a spot right under my eye, which turned out to be a basal cell carcinoma.”
The camera then cut to the host as he sat down in a consultation room down with his doctor.

THE STATLER BROTHERS’ FINAL GOODBYE: Just three old friends, standing where it all began — in the soft light of the Statler Brothers Pavilion, Staunton, Virginia. Don Reid, Phil Balsley, and Jimmy Fortune side by side again, this time not for a concert, but for a goodbye. The air was quiet, heavy in that way it gets when love meets loss. Don’s voice trembled on the first line. Phil reached over, resting a hand on his shoulder. And Jimmy, eyes shining, carried the melody like a prayer. It wasn’t just a song — it was the sound of memory itself. The crowd rose to their feet before the final note even fell, some wiping tears, others just standing in silence. “This one’s for Harold,” Don whispered. The lights dimmed, and for a long moment, no one moved. Because everyone there knew — they had just witnessed the end of something beautiful, sung straight from the heart.

THE LAST HARMONY: Don Reid Bids Farewell to Touring After Emotional Tribute to Harold — “His Voice Was the Other Half of Every Line.” For decades, the Statler Brothers carried America’s stories in four-part harmony. But for Don Reid, every note was shared with one man above all: his brother Harold. At his final touring appearance, Don stood beneath the lights and offered one last tribute. His voice trembled as he spoke: “Harold’s voice was the other half of every line I ever sang.” The crowd, heavy with memory, rose to their feet as Don’s words echoed through the hall. There were no encores. No curtain calls. Just the quiet farewell of a man who had given his life to music, faith, and family — and who now steps away, leaving the harmonies to live forever.
