The Mormon Wives star first filed back in January of 2024, only to have the case automatically dismissed a few months later over an unpaid $325 filing fee.

The mom-of-two and MomTok staple would head back to court in February of 2025 to finish the job when she filed a new petition for divorce, and this time, she saw it through.

Over the course of the proceedings, the court appeared to determine that Layla’s husband did not have to participate in the typical divorce education requirements.

“The court finds that extraordinary circumstances have been shown and the court grants or allows the motion. Respondent’s divorce education requirements are waived and this case may proceed.”

In a podcast that ran late last year, the influencer claimed it was difficult to get her ex-husband to sign off on necessary forms during the court’s proceedings.

She mentioned her attorney had to navigate roadblocks to finalize the divorce, and a court order waiving Wessel’s participation appeared to be one of those hold-ups.

In the divorce decree, Layla and her husband were given equal time and joint legal custody of their two sons, Oliver and Maxwell.

The divorce decree orders that both drug and alcohol restraints be placed on both parents.

“The parents shall be restrained from using illegal drugs or drugs that have not been legally prescribed to them and shall not exceed the dosage on any prescription medication.”

“They shall be also restrained from consuming alcohol while the children are in their care and from allowing the children to be in the presence of any other person who the parties suspect or have reason to suspect may be under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or non-prescribed drugs. “

As The U.S. Sun previously revealed, fellow Mormon Wives star, Taylor Frankie Paul’s divorce from Tate Paul had an alcohol ban, but there was no mention of drugs in their case.

Meanwhile, as The U.S. Sun also previously revealed, Demi Engemann’s divorce case from Blake Corbin, and that decree makes no mention of an alcohol or drug ban.

Additionally, in Layla and Clayton’s divorce, the court ordered mutual restraining orders, stopping both parties from making derogatory comments about each other in front of their children.

Additionally, the court ordered both parents not to “harass, stalk, threaten or abuse” the other or any of their friends or family.

It also barred them from letting anyone else do the same.

Inside Layla and Clayton’s income at the time

As of May 2025, Layla’s social media marketing income was at least $5,000 per month, the papers read.

Neither received alimony, and the child support is subject to amendment in the event of significant income changes.

It doesn’t appear that there have been any court changes to child support since Layla’s significant success on the Hulu reality show.

Interestingly, in a podcast interview with Weekly Trash, Layla claimed her ex-husband was initially part of the show’s casting, despite never appearing on the show.

The Mormon Wives star was last romantically linked to fellow star Chase McWhorter‘s brother, Mason.

However, the reality TV pair broke up earlier this year.
