SHE is the ultimate queen of reinvention and now Madonna is preparing to push boundaries yet again.

Over the next two days, the 67-year-old singer will be filming her most X-rated music video to date, as she gears up to release her new album, dubbed Confessions Part 2.

Last night, a 200-strong team descended on a top-secret location in the UK to start work on the adventurous video, which will accompany her lead single later this summer.

“Madonna could have started drawing her state pension last year! But instead she’s been plotting a massive comeback,” one insider explains.

“And far from toning herself down, Madonna is ramping up the sex. This music video is going to push boundaries and shock.

“She has employed a top intimacy co-ordinator to be on set to make sure that everyone feels comfortable and that everything they’re doing is in a controlled environment.

“Madonna never wants to be pigeonholed and although she’s three years off turning 70, she wants the public to know she is still the ultimate pop sex symbol.”

This video is the first of a new campaign, which comes off the back of her signing a massive deal with Warner Records — the label she launched her career with — last year.

The mum of six has turned to director Torso, the mastermind behind Charli XCX’s 2024 video for Von Dutch, to oversee the shoot and has brought on board her choreographer Damien Jalet, who worked on her Madame X shows in 2019 and Celebration Tour two years ago.

And as well as ramping up the sex, Madonna is preparing to push herself to the extreme physically.

“There are flying scenes being set up on location,” a second insider says.

“Madonna has her body double Mattie Love on board but wants to do some stunts herself.

“She is physically in the best condition and is incredibly fit and strong.

“They’ve called upon a specialist from the acrobatic group Cirque du Soleil to help with the arrangement and appear in the scenes too.

“Madonna has seen what younger, female artists are doing at the moment and knows many of them have cited her as an inspiration.

“She wants to use this video to prove that she is still a pioneer when it comes to her artistry.

“Torso has worked with Charli XCX and Katy Perry before. They’re artists at the top of their game and Madonna wants this video to show that in her seventh decade she is still the artist who is laying down the foundations other stars walk upon.

“Madonna is reclaiming her throne.”

The pop queen’s team have been working on this video for months, with hundreds of thousands of pounds being spent on the project.

The source adds: “The size of this shoot is enormous and the fact it’s taking three whole days shows the magnitude of what Madonna has planned.

“There have been 41 dancers called up for the video, along with a massive costume team who have been locked away working on designs for Madonna for months.

“It is going to be a visual spectacle.

“This is like nothing Madonna’s fans will have seen from her before.”

The Sun first revealed Madonna had started work on this record in 2023, with the star returning to work with British producer Stuart Price.

He was the mastermind behind her No1 2005 record Confessions On A Dance Floor, spawning mega hits including Get Together, Jump, Sorry and Hung Up.

Our source explains:  “Stuart was credited with helping Madonna return to form with their Confessions album and it’s the same this time around.

“The music they’ve created for this new album isn’t what fans might be expecting. So much of the record is steeped in reflections of what Madonna has been through over the past few years, including losing her brother and almost dying.

“This record is still packed full of hits, but it’s not the upbeat pop fans might have been expecting.

“Madonna’s bosses over at Warner are so excited for this new campaign and she is a huge priority for them.

“The first single will drop in the coming months, with the full album later this summer.”

There is a lot riding on this new record, which will be Madonna’s first since 2019’s Madame X.

The seven-year gap is the longest time she has ever left between her music releases.

And this reinvention, insiders explain, was born out of a tough few years for her.

She contracted sepsis in June 2023 weeks before she was due to hit the road for her Celebration Tour, which saw her playing 78 shows across 15 countries.

Speaking about the ordeal for the first time late last year, Madonna said:  “I was rehearsing for my tour, and I got a bacterial infection.

“One minute I was alive and dancing around, and the next minute I was in the ICU unit of a hospital and I woke up from being unconscious for four days.

“I got out of the hospital, they took me off the ventilator, I started to breathe on my own, and I had something, it’s called sepsis, and it can kill you.”

She added: “I’ve always seen myself as Superwoman.

“I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to kick this. I’m going to be good. I’m getting back into rehearsals’.

“And I had no strength. I had no energy. I couldn’t get out of bed and I didn’t know when it was going to end.”

With the help of an expert team, she spent three months focusing on her recovery before she hit the stage for the first night on the European leg of the tour in London on October 14, 2023.

The concerts, which celebrated 40 years of her biggest hits, were cited as a “masterful blend of sentiment and spectacle” and saw her become the second-highest-selling female performer of 2023, behind Beyonce.

The death of her brother Christopher Ciccone the following year gave Madonna another pause for reflection.

The pair were once incredibly close, with Christopher working as the art director for her Blond Ambition tour and as the tour director for The Girlie Show in the Nineties.

But they became estranged after he wrote a tell-all memoir, Life With My Sister Madonna, in 2008.

Opening up about reconciling with Christopher after learning of his illness, Madonna said: “Holding a grudge, hating someone or wanting them to suffer . . . it’s a kind of poison, a kind of cancer.

“That’s why it’s important to find a way to forgive people who you perceive as your biggest enemies.

“For a really long time, it was my brother, who died recently.

“I think the hardest ones are the people you feel like you’re the closest to, they’re your greatest ally and they turn on you.

“The people who hurt you the most are the people you love the most.

“For my brother, I didn’t speak to him for three years. Years and years.

“And it was him being ill and reaching out to me and saying, ‘I need your help’, that means having that moment, like, ‘Am I gonna help my enemy?’. And I just did. It was such a load off my back, such a weight that was removed, baggage that was put down to finally be able to be in a room with him and holding his hand, even if he was dying, saying, ‘I love you and I forgive you’.

“That was really important.”

She went on to write song Fragile in tribute to him. It will appear on Confessions Part 2, as will another track called Forgive Yourself.

Those close to Madonna have confirmed the album is now completed and that once this video is shot, the wheels will be set in motion for the record’s roll-out.

As well as the new album, fans can expect another string of live shows across Europe and North America.

“Madonna is in the best place right now,” another source adds. “Musically, Confessions 2 is among one of the best records she’s made and she feels like she is back at the top of her game.

“The songs are deeply personal to her and she is very proud of them. Now she is focused on the delivery and putting on a show.

“She’s a consummate professional and knows what she wants from this comeback.

“Madonna revels in pushing boundaries and expectations.

“Most women nearing their seventies are enjoying a quieter pace of life but that will never be Madonna.

“She is constantly evolving, constantly improving and constantly striving to carve out a new path for herself.”
