Usually, everyone has a drink next to them, presumably filled with water, coffee, tea, or another beverage.
However, Hoda had two with her, and both cups were different.
One was a typical Today mug, and the other was a plain white coffee cup.
Curiously, Jenna Hager Bush also had two different Today mugs.
Neither Hoda nor Jenna mentioned what was behind the change.
However, Craig Melvin only had one cup compared to the other hosts’ two.
Fans were baffled by this change.
“Confused about the cups,” one wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Why do Hoda and Jenna have two cups??” another commented.
SPIRITED ATTEMPT
Hoda attempted to spread some Christmas joy with co-host Jenna Bush Hager at the end of November.
They first announced that they’d recorded a Christmas song and planned to release it later in the week.
They shared the title, as well as the cover art, which featured the pair in matching white sweaters, red scarves, and Santa hats.
The Today hosts celebrated the release of A Carefree Christmas on Wednesday with the premiere of its music video during their broadcast.
Vocal coach Cheryl Porter worked with Hoda and Jenna to help prepare them for the song and joined them on the track, too.
Hoda shared: “She sat with us, and we matched her tone, and we learned, literally, to go from non-singers to below-average singers.
“We’re always in harmony on the show, so we thought why don’t we put that harmony to the test?”
Just before the music video began playing, Jenna said: “We love Christmas. So, here we go, let’s drop it, baby!”
The clip saw Hoda, Jenna, and Cheryl in the recording studio, dancing with Christmas decorations, and eating festive cookies.
Fans expressed their joy over the fun and festive song on social media but insisted that singing wasn’t necessarily the hosts’ strong suits.
One viewer wrote on Instagram: “It’s a special song not because it’s a vocally talented performance but because it’s meant to bring joy and smiles and done with love!”
A second said: “I’m y’all’s biggest fan lol it’s so terrible but so so cute.”
A third commented: “OMG Hoda you sound pretty much on key!!! I was afraid but very much surprised and totally enjoyed this song!!”
Another wrote: “THEE BEST! I love you both! Great way to usher in the Christmas season!”
CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS
Continuing in the holiday spirit, Hoda and Jenna joined together with their Today colleagues for an annual tradition.
Carson Daly revealed Today’s new holiday card during Wednesday’s broadcast.
He said: “It’s that time of the year. We always get together to share some holiday cheer and say thank you to all of you our amazing viewers.”
The TV personality, 50, gave fans a look at the hosts’ festive photoshoot, which featured snowball fights, Christmas lights, and presents.
It was all set to Kelly Clarkson’s holiday song, Christmas Eve.
Weekend anchor Laura Jarrett joined the holiday card for the first time as she only just joined as a co-anchor earlier this year.
Before taking on this new role, she was the senior legal correspondent for NBC News.
Laura replaced Kristen Welker, who left to become a full-time Meet the Press moderator.
