In an Instagram video shared on Wednesday, Al, 69, announced that he will be heading to Miami, Florida for a few days in March to tackle the topic of climate change.
The beloved US daytime TV host said, “Hey, everybody! I’m thrilled to announce I am returning to Miami Beach for Aspen Ideas: Climate March 11th through the 13th.
“It’s an exciting, multi-day event that brings together changemakers from all across the world, focused on solution-oriented discussions around climate change. I hope to see you there.”
In his caption, the NBC journalist wrote, “News flash – beloved Weather and Feature Anchor, Today and Co-host, 3rd Hour of Today, Al Roker is taking his talents to Miami Beach for Aspen Ideas: Climate.
“The legendary weatherman lit up the stage at the inaugural event two years ago, and is excited to return!”
However, fans were left worried by Al’s recent announcement.
“Heart dropped. Thought you were saying you were retiring,” one said.

Earlier this week, Al shared some “bittersweet” news about one of his family members.
His wife, Deborah Roberts, admitted that she “counts her blessings” because of it.
On Monday, Al was joined by co-anchors Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin on the third hour of the popular morning show.
Sheinelle, 45, began by stating that Dylan Dreyer, 42, was still absent as she was enjoying some time off.
Then, Craig, 44, asked Al how his week was.
“It was sort of bittersweet,” Al admitted, “Well, more sweet than bitter actually.”
The meteorologist explained that he and Deborah, 63, took their son, Nick, back to college after having a five-week winter break.
After Sheinelle pointed out Al’s smile, he said, “It was too long.”
He revealed that after they dropped Nick off at his dorm, he and Deborah got into their car and sang the Andy Williams hit Christmas song, The Most Wonderful Time of The Year.
Al then went on to talk about his granddaughter Sky and the Start Today challenge.
LEAVING THE NEST
On social media, Deborah shared an adorable photo of her, Al, and Nick in the car on the way to drop their son off at school.
“Sunday #blessings Winter break ends and contentment begins…,” she captioned the post.
“Knowing we’re all rediscovering our places of #joy (miss you Nick and we know you’re dancing too).”
Along with a car snap, Deborah posted them unloading the car and a photo of them in the snow.
The last slide featured a video of the 2020 host saying, “So we just dropped Nick off at school,” as she walked through the snow.
Al walked up beside her and she said, “Aww, honey.”
They then danced and had huge smiles on their faces and Deborah laughed at the end.
BACK TO SCHOOL
Deb also shared photos of the last moment Nick would be home for the semester.
The Saturday before he left, she made Nick cookies and he approved.
The photo featured him eating one and holding up a thumbs-up with the other hand.
“Saturday satisfaction. Decided to make homemade oatmeal cookies to send my fave sophomore back to college. I got the stamp of approval! #familytime,” she captioned the photo.
The Roker family then seemingly went out to celebrate Nick’s last day at home.
Deb and Nick snapped a selfie, where they were bundled up in winter gear.
“Squeezing out the final moments of winter break,” Al’s wife wrote.
Once they dropped Nick off, the couple sat in their car and listened to The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.
