“Lost Half a Million Selling Home, Marriage in Ruins!”
Dylan Dreyer Slashes Price on NYC Apartment After Separation, Fans Worried: Is This a New Beginning or the End?
“Today” show host Dylan Dreyer and her estranged husband, Brian Fichera, have chopped half a million dollars from the price of their New York City apartment—just two months after they announced that they have separated.
Dreyer, 44, and Fichera, 38, first listed their longtime marital home for sale in November 2024 with an asking price of $2.49 million, having raised all three of their sons in the two-bedroom, two-bathroom Manhattan abode.
At the time, the couple made no comment about why they had made the decision to part ways with the property; however, Dreyer had previously admitted that they were starting to outgrow the space, leading some to believe that they were hoping to move into a bigger place.
The “Today” host then stunned fans at the start of July when she announced that she and Fichera were going their separate ways after 13 years of marriage, revealing the news in an emotional statement shared on her Instagram account.
“For many years I have shared my family with you all—the highs and lows, the ups and downs, and all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between,” the on-screen star wrote. “I am incredibly grateful for the support and love you’ve given me through it all.
“For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate.”
Dreyer went on to insist that she and Fichera, who works as a cameraman for NBC News, remain committed to co-parenting their three sons together, adding that they have “noting but love and respect for one another.”
The estranged couple has proven their unwavering commitment to remaining in one another’s lives by continuing to spend time together with their children, even celebrating Dreyer’s 44th birthday as a family at their beach home in August.
However, it appears that the couple is unrelenting in their plans to sell their New York City home—despite taking it off the market briefly at the end of July, sparking speculation that they may have been trying to work through their marital troubles.
Dreyer and Fichera, who share ownership of the condo unit, have relisted the home at the discounted price of $1.99 million, having slashed $500,000 from their original asking price.
The duo has also included several new listing images to better showcase the space.
Unfortunately for the estranged couple, they now stand to take a significant loss on the unit, which they bought for $2.35 million.
Dreyer and Fichera purchased the two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in June 2016, according to property records, just a few months before they welcomed Calvin, the first of their three sons, in December.
The former couple also shares sons Oliver, 5, and Rusty, 3.
The condo, which was built in 2008, sprawls across 1,491 square feet and features floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the lush landscaping of Battery Park below.
The expansive living room has elegant oak wood flooring, and the chef’s kitchen offers a chic and minimalist design with gray cabinets, modern appliances, and marble countertops.
The dining room can accommodate 10 people.
The bedrooms are “generously proportioned,” the listing notes. The “oversized” primary suite features a “five-fixture bathroom complete with Crema Luna limestone floors and tops, Waterworks fixtures and teak cabinetry.”
The listing photos reveal the lengths that Dreyer and Fichera went to maximize the space in their second bedroom, which serves as a dedicated space for their kids. The bedroom offers a three-level bunk bed, a colorful rug, and animal-themed storage bins as well as a wall with built-in storage.
The second bedroom also boasts a separate bathroom that comes with chic white tiling.
In addition to the amenities found in the unit, the apartment building itself also offers residents the use of a number of communal spaces, including a children’s playroom and an expansive rooftop.
The listing description notes that the building boasts “an exceptional suite of amenities, including a 24-hour doorman, sky-lit indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, state-of-the-art fitness center, children’s playroom, and a 7,000-square-foot landscaped roof deck complete with commercial-grade BBQs, a wet bar, and private cabanas.”
Before listing the home, Dreyer had previously hinted at plans to move out of the Manhattan condo, admitting that the space was no longer a suitable fit for their brood.
Still, she said that they would continue to make the home work for as long as possible, revealing in January 2022 that her family was determined to utilize every square inch of space in the condo.
“‘You have to move,’ they said. ‘You’ll never fit in your apartment,’ they said. ‘Time for a bigger place,’ they said,” she wrote while sharing an image of their space-saving solutions on her Instagram.
“This is how you do it in NYC. I think they all fit just fine … for now.”
Though Dreyer has not revealed whether she has snapped up her own home in New York City, she and Fichera also own a stunning beach house in Point Lookout, NY, which was purchased back in 2021 for $2.5 million.
However, while property records show that the New York apartment is listed under both of their names, with Dreyer going by her married name, Dylan Fichera, on the deed, only her estranged husband is registered as the owner of the beach house.
The “Today” host hinted that she and her children have spent ample time at the beach home throughout the summer months, sharing several images of herself and her sons soaking up the sun at the property, while bidding farewell to the warm-weather season.
“Bye bye summer…hello school time!” she wrote. “How does time fly by so quickly??? I miss it already!!”
