EXCLUSIVE: George Stephanopoulos and wife Ali Wentworth share new addition after heartbreaking loss

“Meet Fig! Say hello to the newest member of @gstephanopoulos and @therealaliwentworth‘s family,” the caption for the adorable clip reads.
In the video, the couple can be seen beaming and smiling while holding their new puppy, Fig.
Fans were quick to react to the happy news, with one commenting: “She’s adorable!!”
“Hi Fig!! Such a beautiful Labrador that face is gorgeous,” said a second.
“Beautiful lab! And very chill temperament! Got yourself a new best friend,” added a third.
Back in May, George and Ali suffered a devastating family loss when with the passing of their dog, Cooper.
The dog’s death happened after the couple celebrated their daughter Elliott’s graduation from Brown University.
DEVASTATING FAMILY LOSS
Taking to social media to reveal the news at the time, Ali said: “I lost my longtime companion. The greatest dog and integral part of our family.”
“He once swam after a giant Elk in a pond. Ate a whole bottle of melatonin and felt nothing.
“Always devoured all the candy in our Christmas stockings. Slept at the foot of our bed and dreamt running in place,” she went on.
“He loved every species. Especially humans. Kissed and cuddled everyone that came through our door.”
Ali concluded: “Cooper was unconditionally adored by all.
“I will miss him with all my heart. See you on the other side, Coop! We still have many squirrels to chase.”
GEORGE AND ALI’S FAMILY LIFE
George and Ali, who is an actress, comedian, and writer, have been married since 2001.
They said “I do” at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity on New York’s Upper East Side.
Their wedding ceremony was performed by George’s father, a reverend.
According to Ali, the ceremony was a traditional Greek wedding with Greek dancing.
“One of my favorite memories from that event was watching these circles of people we loved, arm-in-arm, kicking their legs up to Greek music”, she said previously.
“The director Mike Nichols next to George’s grandmother next to an 8-year-old flower girl next to my college roommate.”
The happy couple share two daughters, Elliott and Harper.
Both of their daughters are successful in their own right, with Elliott having graduated from Brown University.
Meanwhile, their other daughter Harper is studying at Vanderbilt.
