DWTS’ Dancing with the Holidays special: Who will perform and what to expect

Coming off a season full of viewership highs, Dancing With the Stars is taking full advantage of its new audiences by offering a first-ever holiday special-Dancing With the Holidays.
The new show is part of ABC’s holiday programming lineup and will be airing for the first time this year. The special comes just one week after the Season 34 finale, which crowned Robert Irwin and Witney Carson as winners.
And while fans may not have been surprised when Irwin won the title, they may actually find themselves feeling that way if they tune in to the December 2 special.
While details have been scarce so far, ABC has teased that the special will contain elements that longtime Dancing With the Stars fans have always loved.
According to a press release, viewers will get to see spectacular numbers during the hour of programming.

“The ballroom comes alive with holiday magic as ‘Dancing With the Stars’ celebrates the season with festive-themed routines, dazzling musical performances and special holiday greetings,” the release reads.
During the Season 34 finale, co-hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough also announced that they would be participating in the special.
Ribeiro also revealed at least one special appearance by Pentatonix, the singing group of which Season 34 contestant Scott Hoying is a part.
“Next Tuesday night, we are decking the halls and the ballroom for our first-ever holiday celebration,” he said during the episode. “We’ll have exciting dances from our pros, surprise guests, and a performance from Pentatonix.”

While this will be the first-ever holiday special, the show has alluded to the season in past finales, with several previous years featuring holiday-themed content in their finales.
The holidays appeared to take a backseat after the show changed from a two-night a week format with a results show to a one-night format, but a special holiday number was featured during the Season 32 finale, with the pros, as well as Ribeiro and Hough, all participating in a number set to Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.
That particular number featured special appearances by Carson, who had taken the season off after having her second child, as well as Season 5 champion Helio Castroneves, Season 24 Champ Rashad Jennings, and Season 28 winner Hannah Brown.
Whether former champs or the current Season 34 cast will be involved remains to be seen.
