DRAMA QUEEN The View’s Whoopi Goldberg reveals very unexpected new job after week-long absence from talk show

WHOOPI Goldberg has been missing from The View all week due to a very unexpected new job.

The View moderator, 70, took to Instagram to explain her absence and to reveal her location- and it was thousands of miles away from the show’s NYC studios.

“If you notice I’m not on The View this week it’s because I’m in Italy working,” Whoopi posted to her Instagram Stories earlier this week.

She elaborated on her new job on The View’s podcast Behind The Table, claiming she took a role on Italian soap opera Un Posto Al Sole.

“It’s great because you love acting and it’s nice for you to get a break from here occasionally. We will miss you desperately,” producer Brian Teta told Whoopi.

“But you’ll be back, which is the important thing to mention. You’re going to be on the longest-running soap opera in Italy.”

Whoopi said she wanted to try something new away from The View, where she’s been a host since 2007.

“It’s time for me to do some things in addition to this. This is the longest-running job I’ve ever had,” she said.

MORNINGS IN NAPLES

It’s not a total surprise that Whoopi is spending time in Italy, as she has a vacation home in Sardinia and often spends her breaks from The View there.

On Thursday’s episode of The View, she sent a video message to her co-workers at home from her hotel room in Naples.

“Good morning everybody, I’m about to get ready to get to work,” she said from terrace overlooking the water.

“But I just wanted you to see what I saw this morning when I woke up.

“It’s just beautiful, look at the sky! Now it’s been raining here for the last couple of days which is just fine with me, because we’ve been shooting inside. But we’re supposed to do some outside work today.”

Co-host Joy Behar said she was “jealous,” and suggested they bring the show to Italy.

Whoopi’s episodes will air sometime in 2026.

Earlier this month, Joy was absent for at least three episodes when she hurt her foot.

In order to accommodate her injury, the show’s producers changed up the opening sequence.

The hosts no longer walk to the table in the opening shots, and now first appear seated.
