His SUV collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol car shortly after 1am last Thursday.

According to an RNC press release issued on September 25, the collision happened at an intersection that caused “significant damage” to both vehicles.

Hartnett – best known for his work in Pearl Harbor and Oppenheimer – was taken to hospital with minor injuries alongside his 59-year-old driver.

The male police officer was also treated as a precaution.

The 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘩 is now under investigation.

A rep for Hartnett told Page Six the star “has since been released from the hospital and is back at work.”

Hartnett has been in Newfoundland since August filming a yet-to-be titled Netflix show about a small fishing town under siege from a mysterious sea creature.

The cast also includes Willow Kean, Ruby Stokes, Rohan Campbell and Kaleb Horn.

No release date has been set.

The actor, who lives in the UK with wife Tasmin Egerton and their four children, has kept a low profile in recent years.

But he’s been back in demand as he was spotted filming Verity in new York City with Dakota Johnson back in March.

It comes after a Grey’s Anatomy actor and popular celebrity photographer was killed in a car accident at the age of 46.

Earlier this month, Brad Everett Young was hit by a car travelling in the wrong direction as he was returning home from a movie.

Young d!ed on the scene on the Ventura Freeway in Los Angeles, while the other driver was hospitalised and survived, his publicist, Paul Christensen, said.

He began his acting career in the late 1990s, but he was a mainstay on the red carpets of Hollywood.

Young made appearances in films including Love & Basketball, Charlie’s Angels, and I Love You, Man, as well as television programs like Grey’s Anatomy and Boy Meets World.
