Paul Pierce is saying the quiet part out loud.
When it comes to the NBA and NFL, many of the rosters are filled with African-American or Black players. However, as we have seen in many drafts, a number of them tend to date outside of their race.
That number has seemingly increased over the years.
One of the more prominent and current players is Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. Anna Congdon and Saquon Barkley have been together since 2017 and share two kids.
The NFL star announced the couple’s engagement in February 2025.
“I have an amazing fiancée,” he said. “I can’t be the athlete I am and have the success I have without the help of her.”
The backlash towards him stems from him not only dating white women but also knowing that she has some old racist tweets in her past.
For former NBA player Paul Pierce, the reason that NBA players date outside their race is quite clear.
“Why do you feel like men, especially NBA players, get with white women? Is it because they’re ‘easy?’” Co-host Azar Farideh asked.
Paul Pierce responded with: “I honestly think that maybe they appreciate maybe more. And they apologize more,” he said while laughing.
Pierce added, “They don’t mind being held accountable.”
Pierce made it clear that he wasn’t sure, while the female host told viewers that all the Celtics legend does is date Black women.
Paul Pierce Was Married For A Long Time

Paul Pierce talks about many things, but not many may know that he was once a married man.
Not many fans would’ve guessed that since he was fired from ESPN for recording himself around strippers on Instagram Live a few years ago.
Pierce married his longtime girlfriend, Julie Landrum, with whom he has three children, in 2010.
However, it seems they’re no longer together, as he officially stated their apparent breakup in 2023.
“I’m single what’s up,” he wrote in 2023 on X.
Pierce’s NBA career came to an end on April 30, 2017.
Brittney Griner Finally Breaks Her Silence Over Alleged Caitlin Clark Comments That The WNBA Refused To Investigate
Brittney Griner (Photo via Twitter)
WNBA star Brittney Griner was at the center of a new debate over what she allegedly said in a game against basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.
The Atlanta Dream center found herself at the center of social media controversy last month when some fans thought she disparaged Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark upon fouling out.
The game’s broadcast focused on an upset Griner saying something as she returned to the Dream bench after fouling out of the game. While there’s no audio of this moment, some who tried to read Griner’s lips thought she called Clark a “trash f–king white girl.”
However, there’s no proof of Griner saying those actual words since others thought she stated something else.
It took weeks for someone to finally get a quote from her, and she provided much of nothing.
Brittney Griner was asked about this moment before her team’s June 15 game against the Washington Mystics and said, “I remember fouling out, being mad. I remember fouling out on, I believe it was [Natasha] Howard driving to the basket. They said I put my hand in.”
This is the first time I’ve heard Brittney Griner speak! 🤨

Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta weeks ago, cameras seemingly caught Atlanta Dream star center Brittney Griner labeling Caitlin Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.
The clip of Griner speaking on the bench, lacking context, spread on social media and went viral.
Griner, who won a gold medal for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, essentially got aw@y with whatever came out of her mouth because the league basically ignored the controversy.
This incident is not the only time Griner vocalized her frustrations this season. Following another game, she stormed off mid-interview, yelling at the referees to “be f—ing better.
