Many fans are used to watching Caitlin Clark all fired up, blasting the opponents with her flurry of shots or even the officials with some intense confrontation. Fans love her passion for the game and the intensity she brings to every possession with it.

In a recent game against the Dallas Wings, the Fever guard was in a different role altogether, though. Sitting out her 11th game in a row, the superstar was a peacemaker for the side, calming everyone in a close matchup.

Caitlin Clark Calms Aliyah Boston During Foul Dispute

Yes, this was a must-watch scenario where the roles are reversed. CC usually blasts the officials, and AB pulls her back, but in a game against the Wings, the 2024 rookie took a different approach at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena on August 12.

The tensions were high with a win slipping away from the Indiana Fever’s hands. The moment came at the end of the third quarter with the visitors having a strong 12-point lead. Aliyah Boston, who experienced physicality in the game, couldn’t control her emotions and went on to blast the referee for the ‘poor officiating’. This time it was Caitlin Clark taking over the conciliator role and calming her teammate.

As the record setting forward moved away from the official, CC smiled at the referee, confirming that ‘everything is ok’ and proudly walked away. the two players share special bond and this was another example of it.

The Fever guard intervened in a possible tense situation earlier in the game too. She also had to hold Stephanie White, when the HC was angry at a foul call and went to talk to the referees. This incident happened during the first quarter of the game with teams matching each other on the court.

While these were some questionable referee decisions from Indiana’s point of view, a decision in the fourth quarter’s closing moment changed the outcome of the game. With the Fever looking for a comeback win, a foul call on Boston handed the Wings a chance to extend their lead to seven points with a free throw.

That basket proved decisive in the end as the visitors registered an 81-80 win, despite late 6-0 run from the Fever.

Caitlin Clark’s Absence Hurting Indiana Fever

A game against struggling Dallas Wings was an easy win for the fifth placed Indiana team, even without CC, Aari McDonald or Sydney Colson on the floor. The team’s versatility and depth handled stronger opponents like Seattle Storm and Mercury. Also they had 3-0 series record against the Texas team in the 2025 season.

But the scenes at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse arena were shocking. The Wings forwards controlled the game with Paige Bueckers running the floor in the absence of Arike Ogunbowale. The 2012 champions looked helpless on the defensive end and struggled to create chances (like they usually do) on a regular basis.

ESPN predicted this downfall in their recent power ratings, especially with Clark’s injury. After the loss, they stand in sixth place with just one game advantage over the Golden State Valkyries below them. Now, with just 11 games remaining in the regular season, Stephanie White’s side has little margin for error.
