NCIS fans, brace yourselves for a little sibling rivalry in Season 23.

Nancy Travis (Last Man StandingThe Kominsky Method) has been cast as Navy Vice Admiral Harriet Parker, the sister of Gary Cole‘s Special Agent Alden Parker, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Travis’ character will first appear in the two-part Season 23 premiere, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 8/7c, and will offer a glimpse into how Alden became the man he is today.

NCIS Season 23 Cast Nancy Travis As Alden Parker's Sister

“The Alden Parker that we know and see now is not what Alden Parker was as a child,” showrunner Steven D. Binder told TVLine as part of our upcoming Fall Preview package. “We’ve gotten into his history a bit — he was a troubled kid, he was in a juvie home, he stole things — and that’s the dynamic that his sister grew up with. He was the ‘bad’ kid and she was the good kid.”

When Alden and Harriet are reunited as adults, in the wake of their father Roman’s recent murder, fans will quickly discover that their childhood dynamic is still alive and well. But while their sniping might make for good TV, it’s also sure to complicate their respective jobs.

“They’re going to relive that between the two of them,” Binder says. “She’s this super squared-away Navy admiral, and then you’ve got Alden Parker, who’s got this ‘bad kid ‘seed. Those two are going to come to a head, and what’s funny about that is it’s one thing to have it happen over Thanksgiving dinner, it’s a whole other thing to happen in the middle of a global crisis! The bickering is, I might say, very NCIS.”

In addition to her aforementioned roles on Last Man Standing and Kominsky Method, Travis’ previous TV credits include Mr. MercedesBeckerThe Bill Engvall Show and Almost Perfect.

True Detective debuted on HBO in 2014, with each season telling a new story with a new cast. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson starred in Season 1, with Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams taking over in Season 2 and Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff in Season 3. Jodie Foster headlined Season 4’s Night Country, winning an Emmy for best lead actress in a limited series. (Nic Pizzolatto created the series and oversaw the first three seasons, but stepped back in Season 4, with López taking over.)

Cage is best known for his film work, including roles in acclaimed films like Moonstruck and Leaving Las Vegas (which won him an Oscar for Best Actor) and action blockbusters like Con Air and National Treasure.
