The stars of Dawson’s Creek are joining together for a special “Class Reunion,” and it’s all to raise awareness and funds for a good cause.
For the first time since the show wrapped, James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe and Busy Philipps will reunite at New York City’s Richard Rodgers Theatre for a one-night-only live reading of the pilot episode’s script. Proceeds from the event will benefit F Cancer and Van Der Beek, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer in November.
Tickets for the Monday, Sept. 22 event — titled “Dawson’s Creek Class Reunion” — will go on sale at Broadway Direct on Friday, Aug. 22 at 1/12c. (Use this link to purchase tickets.)
Jason Moore, who played Trevor on a Season 5 episode of Dawson’s Creek, is directing the event. The evening is produced by Carl Ogawa, Moore, Williams, Thomas Kail, Maggie Brohn, Kevin Williamson and Greg Berlanti. Philipps, Smith and Monroe, who joined the show after the first season, will read various roles in the pilot.
“I am so excited to reunite with James, Michelle, Katie, Joshua and our Dawson’s Creek family for such a special night,” said Williamson in a statement. “Dawson’s Creek changed my life. What began as a personal story about a young man and his friends navigating their way through the challenges of life became so much more than I ever dreamed. It created an enduring fandom and legacy all over the world. I am so honored to be a part of it and to support our beautiful friend, James, as we continue to navigate our way through life and its many challenges.”
Added Williams: “We grew up in Capeside and that’s a bond that will last a lifetime. We wanted to gather around our dear friend James and remind him that we are all here. We always have been and we always will be. And I know the fans of Dawson’s Creek feel the same way.”
Dawson’s Creek followed a group of friends who navigated the complexities of adolescence, relationships and social issues. Through celebrations, graduations, heartbreaks and loss, the friends stayed close and continued to support each other through life’s many highs and lows. The show ran for six seasons on The WB from 1998-2003
