Vladimir Putin caught Donald Trump off guard with a rare public message in English during the 2025 Russia–United States Summit on Friday.

The two world leaders met at the Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday. Trump pulled an epic power move by flying a B-52 Bomber over Putin’s head.

The purpose of the meeting was for Donald Trump to work with Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, but no deal was reached.

Though they didn’t reach an agreement, Trump told reporters it was “a very productive meeting.” The U.S. president vowed to call up NATO and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before thanking Putin for his time.

When Donald Trump was done speaking, the Russian president stunned the 79-year-old by making a rare public comment in English. Putin told Trump their next meeting will happen in Moscow.

“Oh, that’s an interesting one, Trump said. “I’ll get a little heat on that one, but I could see it possibly happening.”

Zelenskyy met with Trump and vice president JD Vance at the White House on Feb. 28 to discuss an end to the war and finalize the Ukraine–United States Mineral Resources Agreement. The televised meeting turned heated, with no deal reached.
