Texas Tech Student Arrested And Expelled After Disrupting Charlie Kirk Vigil
An 18-year-old Texas Tech University student has been arrested and expelled after a video surfaced showing her disrupting a vigil for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was sh0t and killed last week during an appearance in Utah.
The student, identified as Camryn Giselle Booker, was seen on video Friday (Sep. 12) near the school’s Student Union Building allegedly shouting, “F**k y’all homie d3ad, he got sh0t in the head,” at attendees gathered in remembrance.
The exchange apparently escalated when Booker flicked a “Make America Great Again” hat on a man’s head and later responded to another attendee who accused her of being emotional. “You’re calling me aggressive because I’m a Black woman,” she snapped back.
Texas Tech police confirmed Booker was arrested on one count of simple ass@ult, a Class C misdemeanor, and transported to the Lubbock County Jail. She was released Saturday (Sep. 13) after posting a $200 bond. By Monday (Sep. 15), the university confirmed Booker was no longer enrolled, releasing a statement that read:
“Any behavior that denigrates victims of violence is reprehensible, has no place on our campus, and is not aligned with our values. Federal law prevents Texas Tech University from commenting on individual student conduct matters. We take all reported violations seriously and address them under university policy and the law.”
Governor Greg Abbott also weighed in on the incident, posting a video of Booker mocking Kirk’s death on X with the caption: “Definitely picked the wrong school to taunt the death of Charlie Kirk. Thanks Texas Tech.”
Kirk’s unsettling public tragedy took place when the conservative activist had just answered a question from an audience member at Utah Valley University about mass sh00tings committed by transgender people. That’s when a single g::unsh0t rang out, sending thousands of attendees scrambling for safety and leaving the 31-year-old jerking back and appearing to grab his neck in pain.
Officials later confirmed the sh0t came from a long g::un f!red from the university’s Losee Center, located about 200 yards from where Kirk was speaking. He was transported to a local hospital for emergency surgery, where he was later pronounced d3ad.
Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in St. George, Utah, on Friday (Sep. 12), according to officials and sources who spoke with ABC News. His capture came after investigators circulated photos of the suspect, which Robinson’s father recognized. At a press conference following the arrest, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox gave the confirmation: “Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. We got him.”
Cox explained that Robinson’s father confronted his son after realizing he matched the images released by police. Though Robinson initially refused to surrender, he eventually agreed. His father then reached out to a youth pastor who also serves as a U.S. Marshals task force officer, who coordinated with the FBI to ensure Robinson stayed put until authorities arrived.
He also publicly thanked Robinson’s family “for doing the right thing.” He detailed surveillance footage showing Robinson arriving on campus on Wednesday (Sep. 10) at 8:29 A.M. in a gray Dodge Challenger. At the time, Robinson wore a maroon T-shirt, light shorts, light shoes, and a black hat with a white logo. Investigators say he later changed into dark clothing before the sh00ting, then switched back to his original outfit afterward.
Authorities also revealed bizarre engravings on unf!red shell casings recovered at the scene. One read, “Hey fascist! CATCH!” accompanied by arrows pointing in multiple directions. Another contained lyrics from the Italian World War II resistance song “Bella Ciao.” A third read, “If you read this, you are GAY Lmao.”
Charlie Kirk leaves behind his wife and toddler daughter.
