ESPN’s Troy Aikman couldn’t help but throw shade at his former employer, Jerry Jones, during the Dallas Cowboys-Arizona Cardinals ‘Monday Night Football’ game at AT&T Stadium.

The Cowboys’ shrinking playoff hopes suffered what was likely the final dagger in a humiliating 27-17 loss to the Kyler Murray-less Cardinals. And let’s just say that the defeat is likely to dampen some of the excitement surrounding the pending Cowboys trade that Jones has yet to announce.

On Monday, Jones revealed that the Cowboys acquired a mysterious player from an unnamed team. He refused to offer any details, only adding that more trades could be made before the deadline.

With the Cowboys’ defense struggling all night long in their humiliating loss to the Cardinals, Troy Aikman merely suggested that Aikman cancel the pending trade altogether.

“He may want to cancel that trade,” Aikman said, adding that one player won’t make a difference for the defense.

Dallas entered Monday’s game allowing 31.3 points per game, second-most in football. Though they allowed less than that in Monday’s loss to Arizona, 27 is still a bad number to give up to a team playing without its starting quarterback.
