The View fans furious they’re unable to watch show after ABC abruptly dropped by streaming platform…

THE VIEW fans are livid that they are no longer able to watch with no warning after a major streaming app dropped the daytime show abruptly.

As of Friday, The View will no longer be airing on YouTube TV – and it’s unclear if the popular talk show will ever make its return to the platform.

With little to no notice, it was revealed on late Thursday that Google-owned YouTube TV had dropped its Disney-owned channels, which include ABC and ESPN.

The move came after the two sides failed to reach a deal following a lengthy contract negotiation period.

Viewers were left confused as many didn’t see the late-night decision that occurred just hours before The View aired its Halloween episode.

“Anyone else unable to watch today because YouTubeTV dropped ABC last night? I look forward to watching The View every day at 11:00 while I work from home,” one person wrote.

“Yuuup. This also happened on DirecTV Now before I cancelled that and moved to YouTube TV. Disney is greedy af,” another fired off.

“It stinks. I work in the TV industry, and they will come to a resolution at some point. I used to go through this kind of situation with the networks I work for and various cable operators.

“It never lasts more than a few days to a week,” a third predicted.

“Ughhh this is so annoying! when will they come to a resolution?” a fourth questioned.

“Google and Disney are both too poverty-stricken to reach an agreement,” one more quipped of the multi-billion dollar companies.

While others just hoped for a quick fix: “I hope it gets resolved quickly! I know YouTube is gonna raise my price but I guess that’s alright. Literally every show I watch is on ABC.”

DISNEY GOING DARK

Late Thursday, just minutes before the late-night lineup, YouTube TV pulled all of Disney’s networks.

It happened just 30 minutes before the previous carriage deal expired at midnight ET.

According to Variety, the two sides “remain far apart” on a deal renewal that would have kept ABC, ESPN, and more of the House of Mouse’s channels on the internet TV service.

The main point of contention is the price, as Disney is asking for a spike in rates that Google isn’t willing to agree to.

In a move to mitigate the backlash, YouTube TV has said that if Disney’s channels continue to remain unavailable for “an extended period of time,” it will offer subscribers a one-time $20 credit.

Currently, YouTube TV’s base subscription plan costs $82.99/month.

Due to the blackout, users nationwide will lose all local ABC stations, Disney channels, and also will miss ESPN sports programming.

The move is a particular blow to sports fans as we are currently in the middle of the NFL, college football, NBA, and NHL seasons.

In a statement just before the blackout, a YouTube spokesperson said: “Last week Disney used the threat of a blackout on YouTube TV as a negotiating tactic to force deal terms that would raise prices on our customers.

“They’re now following through on that threat, suspending their content on YouTube TV.

“This decision directly harms our subscribers while benefiting their own live TV products, including Hulu + Live TV and Fubo.

“We know this is a frustrating and disappointing outcome for our subscribers, and we continue to urge Disney to work with us constructively to reach a fair agreement that restores their networks to YouTube TV.

“If their content remains off YouTube TV for an extended period of time, we’ll offer subscribers a $20 credit.”

In their response, Disney claimed that YouTube TV wanted a “better deal than anyone else in the market” – including heavy hitters such as Comcast and Charter.

According to Disney, other media platforms have more TV customers than YouTube – who they accused of being “unwilling to pay market rates for Disney’s networks.”
