Indiana Hoosiers Reportedly Replacing Fernando Mendoza with a $2.1Million Superstar QB

Indiana is set at QB for the future.

The Indiana Hoosiers secured the replacement for Fernando Mendoza when they landed Josh Hoover. He has committed to play for the Hoosiers and is likely to start next season.

With that decision, Indiana has found Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza‘s successor after his National Title-winning year. Mendoza is expected to enter the NFL draft and be selected by the Las Vegas Raiders.

While we’re still awaiting an official decision, Monday night’s national championship win over Miami was likely Fernando Mendoza’s final collegiate game. Hoover will finally play for the Hoosiers after committing to them out of high school, only to sign with TCU.

Josh Hoover threw for 3,472 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions while completing 65.9% of his passes in 2025. The terms of Hoover’s NIL deal were not officially disclosed; however, his projected NIL value is $2.1 million, per On3.

Pete Nakos of On3 previously reported that Hoover could land a deal for as much as $5 million.

The TCU quarterback exploded for the Horned Frogs during the 2024 season. He passed for a program record 3,949 yards with 27 touchdowns (T-4th most in a season in program history). He led TCU to a 9-4 record and a 34-3 beatdown of Louisiana in the New Mexico Bowl.

That season saw him hit the 300-yard passing mark in six games, including an impressive 402-yard, four-touchdown performance in a 35-34 loss to UCF. Many programs wanted him. Indiana now has him.

In need of a quarterback at the time, the Tennessee Volunteers reached out to grab him with a strong offer. Tennessee offered him roughly $1 million more than he made with TCU. However, Josh Hoover turned it down. With a better program calling with more money, it was hard for Josh Hoover to say no to Indiana.
