Mystery Illness Is Sweeping Through NFL Locker Rooms – Several Star Players Suddenly In Doubt For Week 12

Several NFL teams have recently dealt with illness, including a stomach bug that is affecting a number of NFL stars, including Baker Mayfield.

The Buccaneers held only a walk-through on Wednesday because several players were under the weather.

“Unfortunately, this Wednesday, a lot of people have taken ill,” coach Todd Bowles said.

“There is a bug going around the building. We had about five coaches and about 15 players down, so that helped aid in this walk-through. There’s nothing we can really do about that today.”

Aside from Mayfield, center Graham Barton, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, offensive guard Dan Feeney, offensive tackle Luke Goedeke, and defensive end Logan Hall were all sick.

The Houston Texans, who play on Thursday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills, also had a sick player. Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair popped up on Monday’s injury report due to a knee issue and illness.

The veteran linebacker has recorded 32 tackles, three pass defenses, and one fumble recovery across the Texans’ five games since the Week 6 bye.

 

This isn’t exactly the best time for Baker Mayfield to be sick for multiple reasons.

There’s a bug buzzing around the locker room in Tampa Bay as multiple players and several coaches were sidelined by an illness on Wednesday.

It comes on the heels of Baker Mayfield revealing his wife is expecting their second child. The couple confirmed this week that Mayfield’s wife, Emily, is pregnant.

Her pregnancy comes a month after she admitted how fame, football, and struggles almost broke their marriage.

“He was losing himself and I was watching it, you know, front and center,” she said. At one point, she admitted, “Our marriage was failing.”

The hardest time for them came in 2020, when at least two different women called a radio station to expose Mayfield for cheating on his wife. They made it past that moment.

In the meantime, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are facing an unforeseen challenge before their crucial Sunday night showdown.

Tampa Bay is gearing up to take on the Los Angeles Rams while simultaneously managing this sick bug.

Baker Mayfield has the team in first place in the NFC South, but a loss could have them with the same record as the surging Panthers.
