Several Hurricanes players were seen taking shots in the tunnel as part of their unusual pregame ritual. That moment quickly drew attention. Despite what you might be thinking, it wasn’t alcohol. The players were drinking shots of cafecito. It is a Cuban-style espresso that is made by whipping a small amount of strong espresso with sugar.


It’s a nice dose of caffeine that certainly worked for the Miami Hurricanes. The team carried a 17-13 lead into halftime at State Farm Stadium. This is not unusual for the team.

The Miami Hurricanes Can Etch Their Names Into History

Miami has every Hurricanes legend hoping they can do what the program hasn’t done in over 20 years. The program hasn’t won the national championship since the 2001 season. That team completed a perfect 12-0 season led by QB Ken Dorsey and WR Andre Johnson.

The No. 10 Hurricanes defeated the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels 31-27 in a College Football Playoff semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl. Quarterback Carson Beck ran for a go-ahead 3-yard touchdown with 18 seconds left.

Miami will now play for its sixth national championship overall. That will happen on Jan. 19 at the place they call home: Hard Rock Stadium.

The Miami Hurricanes will face the winner of Friday night’s Peach Bowl between No. 1 Indiana (14-0) and No. 5 Oregon (13-1) for the title.
