According to Pete Nakos of On3.com, Darian Mensah plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Mensah, who turns 21 on Monday, spent his first two years at Tulane before transferring to Duke in 2025.

Additionally, Pete Nakos reports that the Miami Hurricanes are “the clear team to watch in this recruitment.” Starting quarterback Carson Beck is widely expected to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft.

In his first season as Tulane’s starting QB, Mensah threw for 2,723 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions to go along with 132 rushing yards and a rushing score. In his lone season at Duke, Mensah completed 66.8 percent of pass attempts for 3,973 yards, 34 touchdowns and six interceptions.

The Miami Hurricanes will play the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers, led by Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, in Monday’s national championship game. If they land Mensah, it would be a fabulous start to the looming offseason.

Darian Mensah will be one of several notable QBs to have changed teams for the 2026 NCAA football season. Last Monday, Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers landed former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt via the transfer portal.

Former Nebraska stalwart QB Dylan Raiola announced his commitment to Oregon earlier this week. Unfortunately for Raiola, Oregon QB Dante Moore announced he would return for the 2026 season rather than declare for the NFL Draft.

Perhaps the biggest QB to switch teams was former Cincinnati Bearcats star Brendan Sorsby. The 21-year-old Sorsby transferred to the Texas Tech Red Raiders program, reportedly receiving an NIL deal worth around $5 million.

And finally, former North Texas signal-caller Drew Mestemaker transferred to the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He won the 2025 Burlsworth Trophy as well as American Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors.
