Derek Chisora Makes Brutal Prediction for Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul Fight

Joshua and Paul are reportedly in talks about a multi-million dollar fight in 2026.

Former world heavyweight title challenger Derek Chisora has issued a brutally honest prediction ahead of Anthony Joshua’s proposed fight with Jake Paul.

Paul recently saw his scheduled fight against lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis cancelled.

The decision came days after a lawsuit was filed against Davis, accusing him of battery against his former partner.

Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions said they would “no longer be moving forward” with the bout in the wake of the news.

Since then, “The Problem Child” has been heavily linked with a potential bout against two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua, who has not fought since sustaining a destructive knockout defeat against Daniel Dubois back in September 2024.

A source told the outlet that the deal is done, and the fight will take place on December 19 or 26. The official announcement is expected this coming Monday, with Netflix expected to broadcast the fight.

Paul’s team also previously explored other opponents, such as Ryan Garcia and undisputed super-middleweight champion Terence Crawford.

The 28-year-old currently boasts a professional boxing record of 12 wins and one defeat, having previously fought the likes of Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Despite the widespread reports in relation to the agreement, Joshua’s promoter and Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn told BBC Radio 5 that “everyone has jumped the gun” and that Joshua has a “big fight” with Tyson Fury in the pipeline ahead of next year.

“We may run out in 2025,” Hearn added. “We were just going to have a low-key fight somewhere – if that is going to destroy the run of Mr Paul and make tens of millions of dollars in the process, then maybe. Nothing is confirmed yet.”

Watford-born Joshua recently suggested that Fury “has to fight” him when speaking to SPORT1.

Despite the conflicting reports, British heavyweight Chisora claimed that “AJ is going to kill him [Paul]” in an interview with Seconds Out.

The 41-year-old said: “Listen, I’m buzzing, we can lay that f***ing Jake Paul nonsense to rest. If that fight happens, somebody better go to jail. AJ is going to kill him; it’s unfair. Someone has to go to jail.

“Right now, Jake Paul will be watching the last fight that AJ had [with Dubois], and he is going to jump on him. It’s all about how AJ deals with the man in front of him. Whatever happens, it will be exciting.

“He [Paul] hasn’t got the power to knock out Joshua. Jake Paul goes home in an ambulance [after that fight].”
