Everyone’s In Shock After NFL Insider Reveals The Stunning Backstory Of Brave Referee Who Saved Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba On ‘MNF’ [VIDEO]

In a tense fourth-quarter moment on Monday Night Football, Jaxon Smith-Njigba found himself in danger and being protected by referee Nate Jones.

Jones stepped in to protect the Seattle Seahawks receiver after tempers flared on the Houston Texans’ sideline during Seattle’s 27-19 win.

Smith-Njigba was swarmed by Texans players on the bench when a referee intervened and shielded him from outraged opponents.

The situation came about after Derek Stingley Jr. intercepted a Sam Darnold pass intended for AJ Barner. Stingley stiff-armed Smith-Njigba as he ran out of bounds, causing his helmet to come off.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba pushed Stingley, which caused Texans linebacker Christian Harris to come over and shove the Seahawks wideout to the bench.

As he held his arms up to show that he was not a threat, Jones came running in and stood right in front of him to ensure that he would not be hurt by any possible punches.

Seattle’s third-year receiver wasn’t fazed by the Texans, saying after the game, “Nah. I told ’em I felt comfortable over there.”

Nate Jones stood in front of Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the Texans’ sideline to prevent any violence.

It turns out he knows a little bit about the sport.

Jones is a former NFL defensive back who played for Rutgers before being drafted by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft. In his career, Nate Jones tallied three interceptions and six sacks.

Jones played for the Cowboys (2004-07), Dolphins (2008-09, 2011), Broncos (20010), and Patriots (2011). He played in 106 games before his career ended.

He joined the NFL refereeing ranks in 2019. Aside from being a ref, Jones is also listed as a firefighter and EMT.

As for the game, Smith-Njigba, who received an unsportsmanlike penalty earlier in the game after scoring a touchdown, hauled in eight passes for 123 yards and a first-quarter touchdown.
