Kosar was the quarterback of the Browns during their best years in the Super Bowl era. He led them to three AFC Championship Games over a four-year period (1986, 1987 and 1989), but they fell to John Elway’s Denver Broncos each time.

The 1987 Pro Bowler is third on Cleveland’s career passing yards list (21,904) and fourth in passing touchdowns (116), per Pro Football Reference. Kosar also won a Super Bowl ring as Troy Aikman’s backup quarterback on the Dallas Cowboys in the 1993 season.

Kosar appeared in 108 games altogether and threw for 23,301 yards and 124 touchdowns. He had his best season in 1987, earning a Pro Bowl nod after throwing for 3,033 yards and 22 touchdowns.
