Bucs Continue to Show Grit as They Head Into Showdown with Lions | Albert Breer

One minute, you’re on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ claiming a certain head coach is unlikely to get fired anytime soon – then the next minute, his firing is announced.

That wasn’t quite the case with Adam Schefter on Monday afternoon, but it was close enough. The ESPN football insider was a guest on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ today and suggested that no head coach would be fired in the coming days, singling Brian Callahan out.

“I don’t think, and for all I know, I’m gonna hang up here and someone’s getting fired, but I don’t see a head coach losing his job,” he said. “I don’t see Brian Callahan, obviously, has come under intense criticism; I don’t see that happening soon.”

Less than an hour later, the Tennessee Titans parted ways with Callahan…

Adding to the irony was the fact that the news dropped while McAfee was still on when the news dropped, and he referenced Schefter’s tweet. The insider, who was recently slammed for a clickbait post had no choice but to announce the same development he claimed would probably not happen.

The Titans are 1-5 through six games this season, and their Cam Ward selection has had little impact on their fortunes.

The No. 1 overall pick isn’t having a great rookie season and recently spat all over the team, referring to himself and his teammate in unflattering terms.

“If we keep it a buck right now, we a**,” he said following a loss to the Houston Texans late last month. “We’ve dropped a quarter of our fu****g games.”

The former Miami Hurricanes star has completed 147 of his 229 passing attempts for a completion percentage of 64.2 and a passer rating of 82.3, throwing for 1,432 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions.

Callahan, meanwhile, was appointed as the Titans head coach last January. He leaves the team with a 4-19 record.
