Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones indicated that he could make another blockbuster trade ahead of Tuesday’s 4:00 p.m. deadline.

On Monday, Jerry Jones stated that the Cowboys had completed a trade for a player from an unnamed team. Jones wouldn’t offer any further details, only noting that more trades could be coming.

But after losing 27-17 to the Kyler Murray-less Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, fans are wondering if Jones has changed his trade deadline plans. At 3-5-1, the Cowboys are a giant longshot to make the playoffs now.

Speaking to reporters after the game, however, Jerry Jones emphasized that the loss to Arizona will not affect his trade deadline plans, per NFL Network’s Clayton Holloway.

“There is one trade I can do. And I am leaning towards doing it,” Jones said.

There’s speculation from fans on X/Twitter that the mystery player coming to Dallas is Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The five-time Pro Bowler returned to Miami in a blockbuster offseason trade that brought Jonnu Smith and Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

For now, it’s all a waiting game.

Jerry Jones Better Use His Trade Assets Wisely

Jones is never one to rebuild and sell off key players at the trade deadline. If he’s going to be a buyer, he’ll have to be smart with his assets.

He acquired two extra first-round picks from the Green Bay Packers in the blockbuster Micah Parsons trade, but there’s no sense moving any day one picks with the Cowboys out of the playoff race.

If Jones can acquire a stud playmaker or two that’s signed long-term, by all means, he should make the trade. But it’s not worth giving up significant draft capital for players that may help Dallas only win an extra game or two, instead of making a run at the Super Bowl.
