Jason Kelce Breaks His Silence On Travis Kelce’s Retirement Decision [VIDEO]

ESPN analyst and Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce addressed the ongoing speculation that his younger brother, Travis Kelce, may call it quits after this season.

Many expected Travis Kelce to retire after the 2024 season. But the All-Pro tight end didn’t want his final game to be a blowout loss in the Super Bowl. He came back for the 2025 campaign, which has been a colossal failure for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention in Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. In the waning minutes, quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear. Now, there’s already concern he might not be ready for the start of next year.

Speaking on ‘Monday Night Countdown’ before the Pittsburgh Steelers-Miami Dolphins clash, Jason Kelce gave his take on Travis’ looming decision (via the Daily Mail):

“In my opinion, to nail that decision, you gotta step away from the game for a little bit. Play these last three games, enjoy them with your teammates, enjoy them with your coaches…And then let it sink in. It’ll come to you with time.

There are so many emotions with this game right after a season, especially with the way this one’s been…Right now, it’s just too fresh. You’ve gotta step away from it, you’ve gotta think about it and then it’ll come to you.”

Kelce may not be an All-Pro weapon anymore, but he’s still a valuable part of the Kansas City offense. He has 67 receptions for 797 yards and five touchdowns, needing just 203 yards over the final three weeks to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the first time since 2022.

The Chiefs lack reliable game-changing weapons on offense outside of Kelce and Rashee Rice. So don’t be surprised if Mahomes and company really push him to come back for a 14th season in 2026.

For now, the focus must remain on closing out this season on a high note. The Chiefs visit the 2-12 Tennessee Titans this Sunday, followed by a Christmas Day home game against the Denver Broncos.
