Travis Hunter’s rookie season is over.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ first-year superstar is set to miss the rest of the 2025 NFL campaign due to a knee injury, which has forced him to go under the knife.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the cornerback/wide receiver underwent LCL surgery and will be unable to participate in any football activities over the next six months.

“Sources: #Jaguars star CB/WR Travis Hunter underwent season-ending knee surgery, with eyes set on 2026. It was an LCL repair,” Rapoport reported.

“He’s expected to return within 6 months to full football activities.”

Hunter sustained the injury during practice ahead of Week 9, tearing his LCL without any contact.

The former Jackson State and Colorado star had emerged as a two-way threat in the NFL after dominating on both sides of the ball in college. He scored his first touchdown of the season against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7.

Today’s development will come as a massive blow to the Jaguars, who will miss his versatility, while his absence will also affect their depth in two positions.

Voted the 2025 Heisman in 2024, Hunter was the second-overall pick behind Cam Ward, whom the Tennessee Titans selected. He helped Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders to a 9-4 record in his second season with the program, declaring for the draft after an incredible year on a personal front.

Hunter also hit some significant milestones off the field in 2025, getting married and becoming a father following the draft. He was also seen getting baptized earlier this season.

The 22-year-old was expected to be a key piece in the Jaguars’ rebuild, given his unique ability on both offense and defense. However, his professional career has been put on hold due to this unfortunate setback.
