Al Michaels & Kirk Herbstreit Took Turns Taking Vicious Shots At Carson Wentz During Vikings’ Embarrassing ‘TNF’ Loss To Chargers [VIDEOS]

Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit took turns taking shots at Minnesota Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz during their ugly blowout loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on ‘Thursday Night Football.’

Coming off a frustrating and sloppy 28-22 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the Vikings got nothing going in their road game against a banged-up Chargers team. With J.J. McCarthy on the sideline for his fifth straight game because of an ankle injury, the Vikings had to put their faith in the hands of the struggling Wentz once again.

Wentz finished the night with just 15 completions for 144 yards, a touchdown and one interception while taking five sacks, per ESPN.

Let’s just say that Michaels and Herbstreit, calling the game for Amazon Prime Video, were so disgusted with Wentz’s performance that they couldn’t hold back in criticizing him on live TV.

At the end of the first half, Wentz was seen exchanging words and smiling with quarterbacks coach Josh McCown, leading to a savage shot from Michaels.

“Kinda weird to be smiling on the way to the locker room,” Michaels said.

Late in the fourth quarter, Amazon cameras caught a frustrated and dejected Wentz expressing his frustrations on the sideline. Herbstreit suggested that the veteran quarterback should have kept his emotions to himself:

“When you’re the captain of the ship, you’re the quarterback, you gotta try to hold some of that emotion in. And I know he’s frustrated, and he’s hurt, but it’s Week 7. There’s a long way to go.”

The Vikings have now lost four of their last six after a thrilling comeback win over the Chicago Bears in Week 1. Indeed, McCarthy cannot return soon enough.
