Bills Owner Terry Pegula Throws Coach & Player Directly Under The Bus During Shocking Press Conference Speech [VIDEO]
The Bills’ owner didn’t hold back.
Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula made a shocking decision. He parted ways with head coach Sean McDermott, even after six consecutive seasons with at least one playoff win.
McDermott reportedly took issue with the team’s flawed roster. The lack of help for Josh Allen has been a talking point for months now, and it became painfully evident that Keon Coleman wasn’t the guy for the job.
That’s why, when asked about McDermott’s firing, the Bills owner took a bold route. He threw both McDermott and Coleman under the bus, claiming that GM Brandon Beane didn’t even want to draft him:
“I’m not saying Brandon wouldn’t have drafted him, but he wasn’t his next choice,” Pegula said, per MassLive. “That was Brandon being a team payer and taking the advice of his coaching staff, who felt strongly about the player. He, for some reason, has taken heat over it, and hasn’t said a word about it. But I am here to tell you the true story.”
Coleman, who has gone viral for getting locked up in a cage with his dog and for his remarks more than for his play, is now a prime trade candidate.

Ultimately, the Bills’ owner claimed that he didn’t fire McDermott just because of that game. If anything, he felt like the team had hit a wall.

“I did not fire coach based on a bad officiating decision,” Pegula said, per The Athletic. “If I can take you into that locker room, I felt like we hit the proverbial playoff wall year after year – 13 seconds, missed field goal, the catch. So I just sensed in that locker room, like, ‘Where do we go from here with what we have?’ And that was the basis for my decision.”
The owner claimed that he did this to help Josh Allen. The reigning MVP was clearly emotional after another heartbreaking playoff loss:
“I looked around, first thing I noticed was our quarterback with his head down, crying,” Pegula added. “I looked at all the other players. I looked at their faces and our coaches. I walked over to Josh. He didn’t even acknowledge I was there. First thing I said to him, I said, ‘That was a catch.’”
The Bills are on the verge of Super Bowl contention, and they will have one of the most appealing job openings. However, with Brandon Beane’s track record and the owner’s remarks, whoever gets the job will have to tread carefully.
